Hello everyone!
For my first blog post, I'd like to talk about a simple way to get your body moving: cardio exercise.
In short, cardio exercise is any activity that uses oxygen and gets your heart rate up for a sustained period of time. It's the opposite of anaerobic exercise, which is done without oxygen and in short bursts.
Why do cardio?
These days, most people do cardio to reduce body fat. Some popular cardio exercises include:
- Treadmill (running machine)
- Stationary bike
- Elliptical machine
- Rowing machine
- StairMaster
- Step mill
- Running
- Swimming
- Jumping rope
Benefits of cardio:
- Reduces body fat
- Improves cardiorespiratory endurance
- Enhances brain function
- Prevents depression
- Relieves stress
- Improves mood
How to do cardio effectively:
- Know your target heart rate. This varies from person to person, but you can calculate it by subtracting your age from 220.
- Exercise at 60-70% of your target heart rate. This is the optimal zone for burning fat as energy.
- Aim for 40-50 minutes of cardio per session. This is the minimum amount of time needed to see significant results.
Personal tips:
- I personally prefer anaerobic exercise, such as weight training.
- I'm currently trying out "hybrid training," which combines cardio and anaerobic exercise.
- I'll talk more about hybrid training in a future post!
I hope you found this post informative and inspiring!
Let's all get moving and improve our health together!
P.S. I'll be sharing more about my fitness journey in future posts, so stay tuned!
